we're a good 50 miles from that radar site. and bit time that reaches up, the beam is near 10,000 feet. this storm did not get captured here and it was difficult to see because it's so high, the beam, it overshot the storm. take a look at live doppler 7 hd. you can see it's raining and moderates in pockets, more scattered in nature, this is snowing and you can see steady rain and it's going to be heavy. this storm is moving out there. is a powerful storm poised to move in and expected to bring up to a half foot of rain in some mountains. i'll be back a look at the detilz storm causing big problems in the sierra. there is a deadly pile up that

so that is going to create problems, snow, mixed in at 8:00 tonight. scattered showers continuing throughout night into tomorrow. you can see it just keeps going. and there is 11:00 a.m. still snow around st. helena and then, stormy period begins saturday night into early hours of sunday morning. we're talking about heavy rain here at 3:00 a.m. a cold front approaches there are stormy conditions developing. wide spread area of the bay area behind this front. it starts to wind down. the until the wind is gone. rainfall totals up to six inches and there is north bay mountains up to five inches. you can see here up to three and there is scattered showers once again, temperatures into 50s and 40s into the north and around the bay. wet weather for you. numbers into 50s.

the coast guard honored a pair of heroes ed -- today. they were given the silver life saving medal this morning, off duty in august, 2009 they heard a 14-year-old chris williams cry for help as he was being swept down the american river. they swam to reach the boy then pulled him to safety and administered cpr until he started breathing again it isn't... fate. it wasn't luck. it was a choice. these two men after my son that. choice that they made so instinctive sli what makes them heroes. i will be thanking them every day for the rest of my life. >> wow what. a heart felt

problems as well one city credits it's proactive approach with making it virtually gang free. while large stories use injunctions and aggressive tactics dublin has a program called care, not cuff. >> most kids go to gangs because there is an issue in the family. they're looking for support. you identify gang members you want to take a look at what family situations are like what. is going on there. >> dublin involves partnering with local youth groups and schools. >> we know our kids and families well. >> teresa young is a principal at dublin high school. administrators intervene when a student is identified at at risk for gang afillation. >> we pull in the family and have a parent meeting and counselors there and administrator is there. and the school resource officer. we put things into place that will help that at risk student.
